DLCC Conference General Info

The Distance Learning Coordinating Committee (DLCC) acts as the primary advising body to the MECC Working Group on distance learning issues to include: design and methodologies; technology and software; curriculum development; accreditation; education policy; general program administration and management; and other topics as appropriate.

  • Dates: August 30, 31, and September 1, 2011 (Tu-Th)
  • Location: Naval Postgraduate School, 1 University Circle, Monterey, California.
  • Fee: None
  • Registration Requirements: Participant name, email address, and telephone number
  • Accommodations: A limited number of rooms are being held at the Navy Gateway Inns and Suites in Herrmann Hall on the NPS campus. Current rates are $50 to $60/night. We will accept requests for lodging at Navy Gateway on a first-come, first-served basis.

Gate Access and Security

You must present photo identification when entering NPS. Be prepared to present a valid driver's license, CAC, or military ID to enter the gate at 9th Street and Sloat Avenue. Due to heightened security, your vehicle may be inspected.

If driving a Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) or Rental Vehicle you must check in at the Pass & ID office for a temporary vehicle pass. Please have ready your driver license, registration (for POV), and proof of insurance, or your rental car agreement (if applicable). The Pass & ID office opens at 0700 Monday - Friday and is closed on Saturday, Sunday and Holidays.

Once at the conference, you will be provided a conference name badge that will facilitate security processing. Please wear your name badge whenever you are at the Naval Postgraduate School to support our security procedures. Lost name badges should be reported immediately.

Administrative Support

The NPS Center for Educational Design, Development, and Distribution (CED3) staff will provide administrative support throughout the conference. During all panel and presentation sessions, the staff will be located in the Ingersoll Hall lobby to assist participants with their requirements. At all other times during normal business hours, the staff will be located in KN102, CED3 Admin Office in the Knox Library, or may be contacted by calling 656-3545. All support staff can be recognized by their gold name badges.

About DAITC

The Defense Academic Information Technology Consortium (DAITC), formerly the Department of Defense Education Information Security Working Group (DODEISWG), is an organization consisting of IT leadership from a number of United States Federal Government academic degree granting institutions. The group advocates the use of information technology resources to advance the educational mission of the U.S. Department of Defense and other federal agencies.

Library Working Group

The Library Working Group (LWG) is the primary advisory body to the MECC on library research, information resource and service issues. Comprised of MECC and affiliated libraries, the Group focuses on MECC-directed activities as well as strategic partnerships that leverage individual library capabilities into a partnership to benefit the broader community. Current topics of interest include: Budget Efficiencies — Doing More with Less; Alumni Services; Ebooks and Ereaders; IT as it pertains to research/information resources; Student Paper Portals; Serving Distance Learning; and Classified Resources and Services.

The MECC LWG will arrive at NPS Sunday 28 August and meet all day Monday 29 August prior to joining the larger DLCC meeting on Tues 30 August.
